About your tutor

Experienced teacher, lifelong writer.

Creating a welcoming space for young writers.

I am DBS registered English teacher with over ten years’ experience teaching in secondary schools, from 11 to 18 year olds. My real passion though, is writing. I was lucky enough to teach A Level Creative Writing for the short time it existed, and I write almost everyday myself. I love helping young people find their creative flair and stretch themselves to write something they're really proud of.

In an inspiring, nurturing environment, we explore extracts from books we love, uncover what makes them effective, and then try those techniques in our own writing. Inspiration can come from images, objects, music, sounds, and film. For those feeling brave enough, we share our writing with each other and give feedback on what's great and how it could be improved even more. There is never pressure to share though — if you would rather keep your writing private, you can.
